How to Turn Your Blog into a Podcast Using ElevenLabs: A Step-by-Step Guide

Want to bring your blog to life with audio? Here’s how we do it:

Step 1: Prep Your Blog Content

• Edit the post in a Google doc to remove visual references (e.g., “see image below” or “click here to read more”), and ensure proper punctuation, and natural-sounding sentence structure.
• Sometimes spelling out certain things we take for granted in print helps the avatar not slip up. For example, every now and then they can slip on a URL and have a better read if the script spells out the “.com” by writing “dot com”.
• We always like to add taglines at the end of the script that you wouldn’t usually find in a blog that acts as a promo for the podcast. Something like, “For more information on how to transform your digital marketing strategy, contact Avita Group at 747-225-2777 or by email at traffic@avitagroup.com.” This way if your blogcast is found on a platform that isn’t your website – like Spotify, YouTube or on socials – there will be a direct reference to who made the audio and how to reach you.

Step 2: Log In to ElevenLabs

• Visit elevenlabs.io and create or log into your account.
• Choose a pre-made voice or upload your own for voice cloning (premium feature).

Step 3: Convert Text to Audio

• Paste your blog content into the ElevenLabs text-to-speech interface.
• Adjust voice settings: choose language, tone, pacing, and output format (MP3 is most common).
• Preview the audio and make edits if needed.

The NotebookLM Difference

NotebookLM from Google is a little different from ElevenLabs in that instead of choosing a narrator who reads your blog verbatim, you upload either the text or URL of your blog and let the AI cook.

• You can upload the MP3 to your website or a podcast hosting platform like Buzzsprout.
• We prefer to host the pod on Spotify as it opens your content to that platform’s 640 million monthly users and allows for one link back to your content immediately improving your domain authority. 

We created an Avita master Spotify account, under which we can create unique channels for each client that we work with. You upload the audio file after downloading it to your computer from. Spotify allows you to customize the thumbnail and write a lengthy description to lure users to find your content on internal Spotify search.

From there, it’s easy to embed the Spotify file onto your WordPress website. Depending on which WordPress template your site is using, we recommend simply asking Grok, Claude or GPT the steps to embed the Spotify file onto your page.

• Once embedded on the page, simply add a caption beneath the audio playback window like: “Click play above to hear this post as a podcast.”

Step 5: Repurpose & Promote

• Share the audio on podcast directories like Apple Podcasts or your company’s YouTube channel.
• Create a social media teaser using short audio clips + subtitles.
